The Monday Haps

Follow the links. You know you wanna.
Also, a quiz recently told me Tina Fey would play me in the movie of my life.

Yep, I just used the word “haps.”

Is that 30s-appropriate jargon? I mean, I know it falls dangerously close to deets, totes and adorbs territory…and I know I’m too old for those. (Partial lie…because I’m pretty sure I used “adorbs” at least once last week when I didn’t have enough characters on Twitter to spell out adorable.) But I’m not quite old enough to say “411” either.

Thus…haps.

Instead of a “real” blog post today, I’m playing web curator and pointing you toward some already-existing fun stuff and foreshadowing a few fun things to come.

Here goes:

  • I’m currently a featured author on the Soul Inspirationz website. This website is run by Ellie Whyte and gets instant cool points because Ellie lives in New Zealand. Stop by for a fun Q&A and a chance to win my new book, Here to Stay.

  • Today I’m guest blogging on the ACFW website…a post inspired by two-year-old work retreat notes that somehow made it past my anti-hoarding, throw-it-out-as-soon-as-you-can tendencies.

  • Did you enter last week’s three-book giveaway? I’m giving away a copy of my book, plus Becky Wade’s Meant to be Mine and Victoria Bylin’s Until I Found You.

  • Guess who’s stopping by the blog on Wednesday? One of my new faaaaavorite authors: Hillary Manton Lodge. We talk about her new book, A Table By The Window, as well as TV fave Gilmore Girls. And I’ll be giving away a copy of her book. YAY!

  • Coming up on Friday: Quizzes are EVERYWHERE right now. I’ll have a fun quiz for YOU to take this Friday. (With my thanks to Bethany House fiction publicist Amy Green for the idea.)

  • Speaking of Bethany House, did you know there’s a Bethany House fiction blog? Lots of fun content, updated regularly. Amy has something extra fun planned for this Thursday… 🙂

All right, that’s the haps this Monday. What’s up in your world?

    1. Yay! Lots of fun stuff going on for you!

We’re winding down the school year at our house so busyness abounds. End-of-the-year concerts, appointments, and schedule juggling.

I’m working on a fun project and looking forward to new seasons in life. Have a great day, Melissa!

    2. I had just looked at this website: http://offbeatbride.com/2013/04/1930s-wedding and then read your first couple lines and was like, “what is with the 1930’s and today?” but then when I re-read it I got what you were saying… b/c I’m quick like that. But I really liked your ACFW post about the 10%. Not as a writer- but just as a person.

Haha, maybe I should’ve been a little clearer. 30s as in age. 🙂

Thanks for checking out the ACFW post!

Also…we need to hang out sometime. I’m pretty much underground until my deadline on May 15 and then I’m leaving town for a bit…but sometime…SOMETIME!

    3. Happy Monday, Melissa! What a fun post to start the week. 🙂

Ooo! Yay for a Q&A with Hillary. I’ve been seeing her new book pop up here and there in the blogosphere and am definitely curious about it, so I’ll enjoy meeting her here on Monday. 🙂

Oh Rissi, Hillary’s book is SO good. I hadn’t read her books before, but a friend actually introduced me to her on FB, saying we had similar writing styles. I read her book in one weekend…slacked off on my own writing because I couldn’t stop reading. I adored it! So I highly, highly recommend it.

    4. Oooh, can’t wait to hear more about Hillary Manton Lodge and her new book. BTW, have you seen that commercial with James Earl Jones and another actor where they spout off all the current social media lingo? I think it’s for a cell phone provider. Anyway, cracks me up when JEJ uses totes and adorbs. Have a great day!

I don’t think I have seen that commercial! I watch any and all TV online anymore, so I don’t see too many commercials. HOWEVER I will totally be watching real TV next week when 24 starts up…so maybe I’ll catch the commercial then.

BTW your book is sitting on my desk tempting me right now. Gotta get through my deadline and then I plan to read to my heart’s content. 🙂
