Occupy where?

Depending on who you listen to, the Occupy Wall Street movement is either limping along on its last leg or poised for world takeover.

I’m not going to get into my feelings on the movement now. Because, friends, it’s Monday. We have weightier (i.e. sillier) things to talk about. Like:

What, or rather where, I’d much rather “occupy” than Wall Street. Yup, it’s Top Ten Time!

10) Greece. I’ve wanted to go Greece forever. (Or at least since I saw the movie “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.”) A travel agent in London talked my friend and I out of visiting Greece during our spring break my junior year of college. Too chilly in March, she said. Kinda wish we would’ve ignored her, ’cause the way things are going for Greece financially, is it still going to be around by the time I save up for a plane ticket?

9) The Smoky Mountains. One of my favorite places ever. In fact, I purposely set my second novel in the Smokies so I’d have an excuse to visit. But I’m finishing the darn book today or tomorrow, and I haven’t made it out east. Sadness. (And I was so sure I’d meet a real life Dr. McNeill there. Shout out to Amanda Ytzen!)

Don’t be scared, puppy. Yes, those are big socks.
8) And while I’m in the area, I’d stop by High Point, North Carolina, to see the world’s largest chest of drawers. No kidding, there’s really such a place. And considering I just cleaned out my closet, it feels timely.

7) Prince Edward Island. Yes, yes, I did watch “Anne of Green Gables” again this weekend.

6) The set of Wheel of Fortune. I’m sorry, I just really love Pat Sajak.

5) Dubai. To experience a middle eastern culture or try new food or explore interesting architecture? Um, no. But because Dubai is home to the world’s biggest candy store. We’re talking 10,000 square feet of sweetness–a store called Candylicious in the Dubai Mall.

4) A Coldplay concert. But then, you totally saw that one coming, didn’t you.

3) Narnia. I know it doesn’t exist, but let’s be honest, this hasn’t been the most realistic list in the world anyway.

I get to see this guy this week!
Excitement galore!

2) My bed. The extra hour just didn’t do it for me this weekend.

And the top location I’d like to “occupy” this week?

1) Wichita to see my adorable nephew Oliver and his too-cool parents. And that’s exactly where I’m headed later this week. If you don’t know Ollie’s story, he’s a miracle baby…and also the cutest baby ever born. Stay tuned for photos. 🙂

How about you? Whether you’re trapped in a cubicle or at home buried in laundry, tell me, where would you rather “occupy” today? (And if your answer is Wall Street, that’s okay. Just make sure to bring your Vendetta mask.)

    1. Awesome top 10, girl, minus the Wheel of Fortune set. Really? Pat? lol

I’ve been to the Smokies and yes, they are beautiful. I’m so so with you on Dubai. So let’s go.

I want to visit Ireland for the castles and pubs and I’m always up for a an adventure and what’s more adventurous than hunting leprechauns and finding gold at the end of the rainbow. Just sayin.

I want to visit NC too! I have a series set there. Must. Go.

I also wanna visit all of New England. I’ve only been to RI and Boston.

🙂 Have a great time with Ollie! Yay! And did you get the book done?

    2. Yeah, I just love Pat. I don’t know why. Possibly because you can always tell he feels bad whenever someone doesn’t do well on the show. 🙂

Oooohhh, Ireland. It still kills me that I was so close when I studied abroad in London and never actually made it there. Yeah, and I’m with you on New England. Must go.

The book is sooooo almost done. I decided over the weekend (after a minor freakout) that I need an extra chapter right before the black moment. Sooo…it may take me until tomorrow to finish instead of today. Either way, it’s so close I can already taste my celebratory Diet Coke with Lime. (Er, wait, that’s because I’m drinking one now…)

    3. Oh … wow … Prince Edward Island, yes!
But a biggie on my Occupy list:
Australia. I would so love to visit there.
And a return trip to Venice.
Visited there back in our Air Force family days (thank you, Uncle Sam.) Would go again in a heartbeat. (Pardon the cliche.)
I would skip the site of the largest chest of drawers since I can’t keep my own chest of drawers straightened out.
One day will you take me to visit Ollie?

    4. Ooh, Australia and Venice – two mega winners. I would love to take you to visit Ollie someday! 🙂 I’m so ridiculously excited to see him. Amy called me a couple days ago to let me listen to Ollie try to talk. Each day when they deflate the cuff inside his trach, he can make little whispery, gurgly sounds. I can’t wait to hear his voice someday!
