When I studied abroad in London, I lived in Vandon House Hotel…and once a week, a housekeeper would clean my room. Can I just say…I miss that! I really, really miss it! As does my current home with its unvacuumed carpet and dusty bookshelves.
In fact, I’m a bit scared I’m losing my domestic abilities all together. I decided to make cookies the other day, opened my cupboard…no flour. When a girl is out of flour and can’t remember the last time she even made something involving flour…she’s got issues, that’s all there is to it.
But this post is supposed to be about blog housekeeping, not my house housekeeping skills…or lack thereof.
I wanted to let you know:
- I’m taking a mini-hiatus! I won’t be posting this Friday or next Monday and instead will be celebrating it up family-style over the Christmas weekend.
- BUT…our Welcome Mat Wednesdays will continue. I’m so excited to hear from the fabulous Beth Vogt this Wednesday and my surprise guest next Wednesday. I hope you’ll stop by both those days!
In the meantime, have a wonderful Christmas week. And hey, if you’ve got any spare time and want to make a girl’s day, come on over with a feather duster. I’ll compensate you in grateful smiles and some kind of flour-less goodie. 🙂

What’s a feather duster?
Looking forward to Wednesdays post with you and Beth!
What kind of cookies?? Did you know that monster cookies don’t have flour in them?? Just a gazillion other things you might not have. Don’t worry about the domestic stuff, it will come back, and I’m pretty sure I’ve never heard of anyone at the end of their life saying,”I just wish I had cleaned my house more.” (well, maybe unless their unsanity environment led to their demise!)
Oops!! Haha!! I meant “unsanitary” but I guess an “unsanity” environment wouldn’t be good either.
Hey, I just realized that if I make a mistake in a blog comment and have to make another comment…that’s good….right?
Aren’t you glad that I sign these “Sherrie” so noone knows I’m your mom???? 🙂
Jess, a feather duster…one of those dusting things with a bunch of feathers and a handle…umm…yeah, my ability to describe seems to be impaired this morning. 🙂
Mom, hilarious! I read your first comment and burst out laughing at the word unsanity. I’m pretty sure I live in an environment of unsanity now and then…
And I’m totally cool with people knowing you’re my mom…hehehe…
My sister is a master-baker. She hasn’t used a box mix of anything in YEARS. I, however, have probably only baked from scratch maybe once in the past 13 years.
And I’m afraid I haven’t dusted since the last time guests came over, which would be Thanksgiving!
Oh, that makes me feel so much better ’cause I’m pretty sure my furniture hasn’t seen a good dusting since Thanksgiving either… 🙂 We must be kindred spirits. 🙂
