Yay for Julie Senne, winner of Katie Ganshert‘s debut novel, Wildflowers from Winter, following the recent WfW blog hop!
I spent the first half of the weekend sick. But by Sunday, I was well enough to travel with my family down to Kansas City to visit my sister, brother-in-law…and Ollie!* They live in Wichita, but were in Kansas City for Ollie’s latest check-up at Children’s Mercy Hospital.
And get this, the room they were given at the Ronald McDonald House is the exact same room they stayed in for Ollie’s first five and a half month stint in the hospital. It was so crazy walking into the Ronald McDonald House this time…no big surgeries or health scares for Ollie. Just a regular check-up.
Of course, there was one shocker when we walked in…a new fixture, the hugest rocking chair I’ve ever seen:
Of course, the sisters had to pose for a photo during the afternoon. (We missed our brother, though!)

He’s definitely adorable! 🙂
Piano recitals and a packing party. That’s about all the excitement. It was nice!
Oh, piano recitals. I remember those days!
He makes me smile. Everytime!
Lots of loving on Hubby’s and my moms, then lotsa loving on me on Sunday. And good food. Because you cannot get together and not have good food to snack on!
Hope you’re feeling better:)
Amen to that – the part about not getting together without good food, I mean. 🙂
He’s so precious. So glad you had a lovely weekend. Sorry you weren’t feeling well. Ollie is the best medicine though. 🙂
We had lots of family time this weekend. My oldest kiddo moved home from school until he transfers to his new school in July.
You’re right…Ollie IS the best medicine. Glad you got good family time, too!
First, Ollie is adorable! Is he the only grandchild in the family right now?
This weekend was the Minnesota Fishing Opener – big deal in this neck of the woods. I didn’t go fishing, but my parents took our girls out and they had the classic fishing stories – our oldest even told me about the “big one that got away!”
Mother’s Day was nice and quiet. Lunch with the grandmas after church and then my mother-in-law and hubby took the girls to the golf course two blocks from our house while the boys napped and I was able to work on my manuscript! My father-in-law made supper for us (grilled shrimp) and we spent the evening at their lake home watching the fishermen go by.
All in all, a great weekend. 🙂
Yep, Ollie is the only grandchild right now and as such, he gets pounced on with all our lovin’. 🙂
Sounds like you had a truly peaceful Mother’s Day. Wonderful!!
How fun! So glad you were better so you got to see Ollie! Yay! So I take it you no longer sound like a man? 😉
Hehe, no man voice today. It’s nice to feel like I can call someone without needing to convince them it’s actually, truly me calling… 🙂
He IS adorable! And you and your sisters all look so much alike! So glad you have a great weekend.
I was pampered yesterday with a nap and a dinner cooked by my husband. My kids were all there, except for my daughter at UT in Austin. it was great.
Yes, we definitely look alike. Throw my brother into the picture and he’d fit right in. 🙂 No missing the family resemblance in the Tagg clan. 🙂
Yay for being pampered!!
YAY for being OFF that vent!!! That is so awesome and the firs thing I noticed. 😀
This is pretty neat: when my sister was born, she was born too fast and had to be air-lifted to the nearest big city. We stayed at the Ronald McDonald House. Five years later we were back because she got pneumonia and we were there for almost a month. We stayed in the SAME ROOM, too! We really don’t want to go back a third time. 😉 I hold a very dear place in my heart for the Ronald McDonald houses!
Oh, I had no idea about your sister…wow! I don’t blame you for not wanting to go back a third time. 🙂 But I’m the same as you – very special place in my heart for Ronald McDonald houses and all their work. It’s a huge load off a family’s back to have a place to stay during medical crises, that’s for sure.
If I lived closer than 130 miles from one, I would totally volunteer. Their work has blessed our family’s lives time and again.
These pictures are precious!!!
Spent my time with my kids, MN Niceys and Author Erica Vetsch. Fun weekend!
Sounds like a fun weekend, Michelle!
I was wishing I had better photos…only phone photos this time around, so not necessarily high quality. But even blurry or too shiny, photos of Ollie *never* cease to make me smile!!
I always love it when Ollie is the star of your post! So glad you got to spend time with him and he’s doing so much better.
Quiet weekend for me. Heard from both daughters and talked to my Mom.
Hehe, I always wonder if my Ollie posts are more for me than anyone else. Glad they can make others smile too. And I’m glad you had a nice weekend, too!
I love when Ollie is featured on your blog!
I had a whirlwind weekend with kids and family. We attended my daughter’s graduation ceremony yesterday in Indianapolis – she received her Masters. Had an awesome weekend with my kids.
Congratulations to your daughter! What an accomplishment!
Love catching up with Ollie. It’s so great that he only has to use his vent when he’s sleeping.
This past weekend was busy — but that’s normal around here. The best part was hanging with family.
Not so fun part?
I managed to lock my keys in the car — with the car still turned on.
Duh.
How’d you get the keys out? Locksmith? I know someone who locked her keys in her car…with the keys still running…with her baby in the car.
Glad you got some good family time in!
Geez, it’s almost the weekend again, so I guess this is a weekend catch up, catch up!
I went to a rank graduation for two sons of some great friends of ours, and then I helped my BFF since middle school through her dad’s wedding (her mom died just over a year ago). It was very emotional for her, and for the rest of us. I proceeded to eat WAAAY too much at Mother’s Day dinner, but I got a Kindle (!) so it was all good!
