Pure Promotion: MBT WriMo

So the first time someone told me about NaNoWriMo, I thought I was having a Twilight Zoney moment in which we were suddenly speaking a different language.

Only my What?! totally came out in English.

My friend explained: NaNoWriMo—National Novel Writing Month—is something loads of writers participate in during November. The goal: write 50,000 words in a month.

I’m going to confess that I’m not a NaNo girl—I can’t handle the pressure and commitment of posting my word counts each day. Haha! BUT for those who are doing NaNo, my post today is 100% shameless promotion of My Book Therapy’s NaNo add-on: MBT WriMo.

MBT WriMo includes encouragement, prayer and contests with some sweet prizes for NaNo participants. Registering is easy-peasy and totally free. Also, MBT is running a discount on the Book Buddy—one of the best storycrafting tools ever!—this month.

Go here for all the MBT WriMo details and registration info.

Happy NaNo-ing! (And yes, I had a little fun making the promo video below…)

If you’re a writer, are you doing NaNoWriMo? If you’re not a writer, do you think those of us who are might be crazy? You’re probably kinda close to right…

    1. I’ve NaNoed and I’ve MBTWriMoed too … and yeah, it takes a little bit of crazy to dive in and fast draft a book in 30 days.
But, hey, it takes a whole lot of crazy to be a writer, right?
      Love the promo video!
And you know I’m all about MBTWriMo — I hope lots of people join the fun!

      1. I’m not a NaNo-er either. I tried it once and it just didn’t work for me. But I know so many people who are truly motivated and see results from participating. So I love helping promote it and MBT WriMo, even though I’m not NaNo-ing myself. 🙂

    2. Love this video. Good laugh to start the morning that started a little late today. I don’t NaNo…I’m always at the wrong place in my writing. And write 50k in November? The month with Thanksgiving and Black Friday? Uh uh. But I hope a lot of other writers will and I hope they are way successful! And it’s so much fun to be part of a big group. Maybe next year for me…

      1. Yeah, I always wonder whose bright idea it was to do NaNo in November of all months!

Sooo…are you still floating today? From experience, I’d bet you’ll probably still be floating months from now!

    3. Love the video! I’m joining in the NaNo & MBT craziness. I’ve done it once before, but that doesn’t make me feel any more confident. 🙂 Basically, throughout November, whenever I’m not writing I’ll be praying my guts out. Because I’m gonna need a miracle! Haha.

    4. I’m on the fence. My WIP is currently at 50K, so yeah it would help me finish, and I’d be a rebel since I’m starting mid-way…so that’s intriguing too;) But I’m not sure I’d be able to do that and stay sane for the kiddos and Hubby, oh, and bake a turkey and pumpkin pie later in the month.

      1. Ooh, kids in school should definitely be a plus. But editing sounds way better to me than NaNoing. I love editing, but the blank screen freaks me out. That may be another reason NaNo doesn’t work for me. Ha.

    5. You crack me up with that video. Hehe. And yeah, I sort of NaNo-ed last year (love that it’s a verb!), but won’t be doing it this year since I’m halfway through my first draft already. BUT I’m hoping to finish the draft, which will be about 36-40K. Still a lot since I’ve got other things going on.

Wish I was participating because there are some awesome prizes up for grabs for MBTWriMo!!

      1. Yes, you’re still hitting a high word count even without NaNo. Ooh, what if we had our own version of NaNo since we’ve both got mega November goals. We can reward ourselves with our own prizes…like a fabulous weekend in Phoenix in February…oh wait, already planning that! 🙂

    6. I am not doing NaNo this year. I did it once several years ago, though, and it was the first time I’d really plotted out a book. It was a great experienced and helped me to start plotting all my stories since then.

    7. Hey Melissa,

I’m a pantser so NaNo is a GREAT motivator for me. This is my third time doing it – I hit 27,800 the first time, almost 40,000 the second time, and I’m GOING to hit 50,000 or more this time! I went on to complete both books and I’m querying/proposing them as I write this so NaNoWriMo is worth my November stress. Woot!

I’ll check into MBTWriMo. Fun video.

      Blessings,
      Becky

      1. Uh-oh, I just made a comment above about being a plotter and hoping no SOTPers heard it. Hahah…but best wishes on hitting 50,000 words. I know you can do it!! Ooh, and yay for querying/proposing. That’s such a big step!!

    8. I have never NaNoed before but I have decided to give it a go this year. We’ll see. I am not going to stress myself out about it. But since I have my first novel out for others to critique I figure this is a good way to get my mind off that first novel and focus on something new.

      ~Melissa

    9. I so wanted to do NaNo this year, but November is always CRAZY around my house. I thought I might have my book plotted and ready to draft, but it looks like I may have to bump that goal back a month or so. 🙂 Does anybody do NaNo in January? 🙂

      1. Haha, I say, do NaNo whenever it’s best for you! 🙂 I think whoever decided to make November NaNo month wasn’t thinking straight…or they live in a country that doesn’t celebrate Thanksgiving!

    10. Hello ! I must tell you the blog post is really good. It is very informative. I want to mention one thing that I like the way you write the post to the point. I really appreciate and keep writing!
