…to change her mind. I’m not sure who made up this rule or if it’s written down or anything. Maybe it’s more of a universal “gentlemen’s agreement.” Regardless, I’m taking it to heart.
See, I was going to keep writing about excuses in March. But as I thought through the rest of the excuses I often use for not writing, I decided they sounded, well, unworthy of an entire blog post. Excuses like:
“I’m too tired.” (And yet, I tend to get a good 8 hours of sleep…)
“My day job zapped me of energy.” (True most days, but the real dreamers don’t let this get them down, right?)
“I don’t feel creative.” (This one falls along the same lines as “no inspiration.” Both earn zero points on the excuse scale because some of my best stuff has come when I didn’t feel creative. I just put my nose to the grindstone. Or rather, fingers to the keys and just typed!)
See, I just summed up the gist of what were going to be blog posts in only a few sentences. Now, don’t get me wrong. I can rattle on about nothing too interesting for a darn good amount of time. (Example: Once my siblings and I spent a whoppin’ two hours talking about different words that would make horrible first names. Words like “puss” or “crevice.” No lie.) So, yes, if I put my mind to it, I probably could plunk out several blog entries about each of the above. But really, why?
Instead, I’ve set myself a new course for March. For your reading pleasure, in the next four weeks I happily and responsibly bring you:

p.s. Wondering about the photo? I mentioned the phrase “gentlemen’s agreement” above, which got me thinking about the Gregory Peck-Dorothy McGuire movie “Gentlemen’s Agreement” from back in the 1940’s. It was a post WWII flick about anti-semitism. Fun quote from the movie, said by cute kid Dean Stockwell to Peck: “Don’t you ever think of what to write yourself?”
