I’m super thrilled to welcome author Dawn Crandall to the blog today! Her first book, The Hesitant Heiress, released in August, and her second one released right on its heels. The Bound Heart released just a couple weeks ago. The third one comes out early next year.
I’m really looking forward to reading them…don’t you think the covers are pretty? Enjoy the Q&A with Dawn and be sure to enter to win a copy of The Bound Heart in the giveaway below.

Melissa: Okay, we’re here to talk about your books, but first, we need to talk about adorable Rhett. Was he named after Rhett Butler?? Can you share a recent pic?
Dawn: Well, not entirely. I do love the book Gone with the Wind, but I mainly chose the name because it’s really old and not commonly used these days. My husband also really liked it because it was a strong manly name.
Melissa: Aww, he’s adorable! If you had to sum up The Bound Heart in five words, what words would you use?
Dawn: That kiss just changed everything.
Melissa: I love it!! People talk a lot about the spiritual takeaways for readers. But I think sometimes the process of writing a book culminates in some pretty great takeaways for us as authors. What did you learn or process or think about as you wrote this story?
Dawn: The Bound Heart was a very emotional book to write. I really don’t have much in common with Meredyth Summercourt, but I knew when I wrote her that there are a lot of young women who would. It was interesting to get so immersed in her psyche, to actually feel what she felt and struggle through her heart-issues with her.
Melissa: Who would play your characters if it was made into a movie?
Jessica Chastain—Meredyth Summercourt
Henry Cavill—Vance Everstone
Melissa: Can you give us a sneak peek as to what’s next for you writing-wise?
Dawn: The third book in The Everstone Chronicles series, The Captive Imposter, will release February 2015. This book is about Estella Everstone, the youngest sister of the Everstone family—but instead of taking place in fashionable Boston and Bar Harbor like the first two books, it takes place at a resort deep in the green, hilly mountains of central Maine.

I have seen Gone With The Wind a few times. I can still remember the first time I watched it on TV. It was like watching a football game. I had to get myself settled in for several hours with my snacks and tissues. Rhett Butler was my favorite character. It is so neat that Dawn named her son Rhett. Thanks for the giveaway!

It is indeed a loooong movie…but I love it! 😀
Thank you so much for having me on your blog for Welcome Wednesday, Melissa! It was super fun to see Lawry, Meredyth and Vance on here too!

You’re welcome, Dawn!! So happy to have you here. 🙂
Gone With the Wind was my favorite movie during my teen years. I loved the whole movie, except for the end. I always thought it would have been better if Scarlett could have figured life out before she lost everything that truly mattered.

It’s true…it would’ve been nice if we could’ve seen a happy ending for Scarlett. Then again…I kind of like how it ended. It left you with Scarlett all determined once more…and so I feel like she probably eventually got her happy ending, even if I didn’t get to see it on screen. 🙂
Will I get stoned if I admit I don’t like Gone With the Wind?

Haha, nope, no stoning here. I know quite a few people, actually, who really don’t like GWTW…most of them can’t stand Scarlett. LOL!
What a wonderful interview. Oh Dawn I love the pictures of the characters and yes they are perfect. I loved both books and look forward to the third. Now your picture of Rhett is adorable. Enjoy each and every moment.
Blessings

Rhett is incredibly adorable, I agree.
I always love seeing the pictures of your characters:) And those 5 words perfectly sum up TBH!

I need to hurry up and read TBH!
I remember the first time I watched Gone With the Wind… I was about 13 years old and my 3 closest friends and I had been invited to the house of a lady from our church. She had planned a scrap-booking party (of sorts) just for us girls and then we stayed the night and watched Gone With the Wind. What a fun experience for all of us! 🙂
I’ve seen the movie a couple of times since then, but not recently.
I am not sure if I have seen that movie or not. If I did, it was a long time ago. I have seen many clips from the movie over the years, but don’t really remember the whole story. Our family never really had TV until after I moved away to college, and when I was married, I occasionally watched things with my husband, but he really wanted to watch sports, so I didn’t see much. Since he has died, I don’t watch the TV much anymore…I turn it on once or twice a year for weather updates.
Sure 🙂 But I love the book much more. Actually, I tend to love the books more than the films based on these books 🙂
